Emergency Service

If you have toothache or a dental emergency please call: 01580 713609 or - just walk in, during open hours.
We have time allocated for emergency appointments throughout the day, these are available to both registered and non-registered patients.
When the Crane Dental Surgery is closed, telephone calls will often be diverted so you can speak to someone directly. When this service is not available, an answer machine message with Dentaline contact details will be available.
For dental emergencies and urgent symptoms when The Crane Dental Surgery is closed (evenings, weekends or Bank Holidays) telephone the DentaLine Call Centre on 01634 890300, during their opening hours (see below), for an assessment, advice and to arrange an appointment where necessary.
DentaLine provides emergency treatment for patients who develp severe dental pain. Treatment is limited to pain releif and temporary dressings. Following treatment or pain releif, patients are advised to book an appointment with their own dentist.
Emergency dental conditions are defined as:
• Trauma of the face, mouth or teeth following recent accident or injury;
• Bleeding from the mouth or gum;
• Severe swelling affecting the airway or eye.
Urgent dental conditions are defined as:
• Sudden onset acute pain not relieved by over-the-counter pain killers;
• Swelling around the tooth, gum or face;
DentaLine can no longer accept patients on a drop-in basis and should a patient arrive at a Clinic without an appointment they will not be allowed to enter. In these circumstances patients will be required to contact the Call Centre by telephone for an assessment. An appointment will only be offered if the patient fits the acceptance criteria. The appointment given may be for later in the session if other patients have already been booked. Where daytime care is felt to be more appropriate, patients will be advised accordingly.
Treatment provided by DentaLine prevents deterioration in a patient’s oral health or will give temporary control of pain. After treatment, patients are still required to return to their own Dentist, or join the list of a Dental Practice, for a new course of treatment to permanently resolve their dental need.
